How to Share Your Knowledge of Canada's Early History

Create a New Page

First, find out whether the page is already in existence by typing the title in the search box at left and hitting "Go". You will be prompted to "Create this Page". OR,

Go to the URL address bar, and change New_Page to whatever title you want. Then hit return.

Write Paragraphs

to make paragraphs - double space
to indent a paragraph - write an colon before the paragraph - :
to make a list bullet, write an asterisk (shift-8) before the paragraph - *
to indent a list, do two asterisks - **
to number paragraphs, write the number sign (shift-3) - #

Make Links

to make a link, start with a single bracket - [
add the URL e.g. http://canadachannel.ca/HCOJR/
put in a space, then write the description e.g. History of Canada Online Junior
close the link with another single bracket - ]
- e.g. [http://canadachannel.ca/HCOJR/ History of Canada Online Junior]

Add Pictures

collect the images you want to upload
write a double bracket and then Image: - [[Image:
add the title, e.g. sample.jpg
if you want a frame, write |frame (Note: the "|" character is called a "pipe")
if you want the image flush left, etc, write |left
if you want a caption, write |HCOJr logo
close the image description with another double bracket - ]]
- e.g. [[Image:sample.jpg|frame|left|HCOJr logo]]
hit save. Clicking on the "sample.jpg" link will prompt to you upload it.
